We began working with Lorea during the 2013-2014 school year as a prelude to our SEL program. Lorea met with students, staff and parents to provide an overview of the CASEL core competencies and then worked with all stakeholders to develop a survey to administer to staff and students. Before the school year ended, she met with the administrative team and teacher leads and shared the results. Based on the results, she recommended a variety of curricula that would best meet our needs. The following school year, she conducted several workshops with staff and helped the new SEL teachers create a scope and sequence for their work. In addition, she developed specific lessons for me as the Principal to use with my Leadership Team. Without Lorea’s guidance and knowledge, our program would not be as successful as it is today.
